When in need of some serious beach action, look no further than the Bay Islands (Islas de la Bahia), Honduras' foremost tourist

attraction. The chain of seventy or so islands, rising in a half moon above the Honduran north coast and ringed by sandy

beaches lapped by the tranquil, glassy waters of the Caribbean, offers world class yet cheap opportunities for scuba diving.

How to get there? - TACA de Honduras is the national airline, although other airlines like Copa
Airlines and American Airlines fly to and from the area. Continental Airlines has direct flights from Houston
and New York to Roatan on Saturdays. Delta Airlines has direct flights from Atlanta on Saturdays.

When to dive? - The dry season (all months except June and July) is best. According to NOAA, the
Atlantic Hurricane Season is officially June through November, however, this time period also has some
of the best diving conditions in the Caribbean with calm seas and warm waters.

Currency - (Exchange Rate) - Honduras currency is called lempiras. Honduras money and exchange
rates fluctuate daily between the lempira and the dollar.  Overall, the lempira has taken a beating against
the US dollar (because of commodity prices and fiscal policy) in the year of 2007.

Where to Stay? - The 2 best places to stay at, if you are on Roatan Island, would be Turquoise Bay
Resort, if you want a quiet ocean side view with a private beach, or at Lands End Resort if you want good
prices, and to be close to the bars and nightlife scene! Caribbean Travel Mag for more places of stay.
